Knowledge vs uncertainties
Air dispersion and transformation.
The distance traveled by the particles is inversely proportional to their size. If the large particles (> 5 mm) do not exceed 500 km in translation motion for 3 km in height in a duration of a few days, particles (~ 100 nm) can make the tour of the globe and in an average time of atmospheric stay of 2 years at about 18 km in altitude.
The characteristics of every type of nanoparticle (size, shape, ability to react, electrical charge) should be able to supply some indications on the potential routes, but these indications remain unpredictable.
