Deposit process.
In any area, three mechanisms mainly affect the deposit of particles:
- brownian diffusion facilitates a surface encounter,
- thermophoresis conducts them toward cold areas,
- an electrostatic field attracts particles.
For nanoscale particles (all things equal moreover), electrostatic forces dominate. The probability of deposit depends on the thermal agitation, but also on the condition of the wall. The temperature differential and especially the wall electric charge are favorable parameters to the deposit.
