Exposure limitation

How to limit exposure?

The limitation of exposures will follow the ALARA principle (“As Low As Reasonable Achievable”) for CEA personnel as well as for other personnel. In addition, the Health Service at Work is responsible for the decision to keep pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as trainees in position, according to the assessment of the exposure risk to nanomaterials in the workplace.

At each workstation where the nano” risk is identified, the following measures can be taken to limit exposed personnel:

  • display of the list of personnel at the entrance to the work place,
  • closure of the work place when no employees are present,
  • closure of places of storage of raw materials, samples and waste.

On the other hand, a workplace analysis in collaboration with the Medical Officer should permit to evaluate the residual exposure of employees, after putting in place technical measures defined below. This study must be guided by the ALARA principle.
