Reactivity

What do we know about "nano effect" and chemical reactivity?

In the nanoform, the relative percentage of atoms on the surface is considerably higher; all properties of a material related to the exchange surface (and possibly chemical reactivity) will be stimulated. For the same mass, the adsorption capacity of a nanoparticle will be higher than that of a microparticle.

Retention of As III by maghemite particles expressed in mass (surface effect) and as a unit of surface (surface reactivity effect).

The retention of As III by maghemite particles (nano iron oxide) increases when the particle size decreases. If the amount of arsenic adsorbed is expressed in mass, we observe a linear variation with a break in the slope for 20 nm (surface effect). Expressed as a unit of surface, this quantity is stable up to 20 nm, and then it increases (surface reactivity effect).
