Particles, exposure and organism.
The main factors that determine the toxic effects of nanoparticles on the body are linked to:
- nanoparticles: physical and chemical characteristics, chemical composition, production methods and surface treatment,
- the exposure: quantities of nanoparticles in contact with the organism, the routes, frequency, and duration of exposure,
- the organism exposed: individual susceptibility, physical activity, evolution of nano-objects after penetration.
